Run thunderbird in background always and get email alerts

Want Thunderbird email client automatically check for new emails and download it? Are you using Thunderbird as your primary email client and wanted to check for new emails continuously from system start up till the computer is shutdown? then don't worry here is the simple trick to make your TB to run always in the background checking the mails for you...

I am using Thunderbird as my personal primary email client for my email(ceveni.com) domain and i was constantly checking for new mails as i get many comments from my website and friends it was a annoying to always start the Thunderbird and hit send and receive i wanted a way to automate this process from system startup till i shut down the system Thunderbird to check the new mails for me, so below are the simple steps on how to achieve this with the help of the addon and simple tweak

-->first of all download the Minimize to tray addon
-->Restart the thunderbird after the installating the addon
-->Now click on tools-->Add-ons-->MinimizetoTray option-->Option

now configure the options as show in the below pic and close the add-on menu now when you close the firefox it should go to the system tray as the shortcut

now to check the mails frequently go to tools-->account settings if its linux go to file-->preferences now click on the "check for new messages every" check box and give the specified time interval as shown in below pic in my case i have configured it to every "5 minutes"

Now if you want to your mozilla thunderbird to start up when system is started or rebooted copy the mozilla thunderbird shortcut which you can find in startmenu or desktop and place it in startup folder that is C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

now everything is ready you should get the email notification within 5 minutes inside your inbox whenever the new email arrives as show in below pic

guys if you know any addons that automate all the above process for TB do let us know

The MinimizeToTray Plus addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2831) seems to be the same thing with extra functionality, like starting Thunderbird automatically in quick launch mode on system startup.

Again, thanks Marko. The one in this article didn't even work with the latest version of Thunderbird. But once I tried your one... BAM.
