How to Improve Site traffic? where the visitors are from? I recently started the blog as a part of my orkut community "Explore the Unknow" as we cant post images and if the post is very big it is quite akward to convey it in orkut community so thought of posting it in my blog and giving a link in the community....
though i used a regular and ordinary counter at beginning for my blog as time passed by i noticed traffic was increasing from 5-10 visists to 50-100 visitors slowly and this made me curious is there any way to find the source of traffic and places where the people are visiting after a little time spent on net i came to know various options which are free for bloggers and small website owners who can get pretty decent details which helps in tweaking and customizing their sites.....
Stat Counter, Hit Stats and Site Meter:
This was the first was the first analytic tool is used in my blog and also most widely used in blog
community also i used other too analytics in my other blog which i closed as the visits was totally low and all the three are very similar.... stat counter allows you to track unique vistors, and returning visitors page views and also monthly and weekly summary both offers free log upto few thousands hit a day after above that you have to pay for the service.... in statcounter you have the option to hide the counter which is not their in the latter..
Google Analytics(Urchin before acquisition by google)

Google Analytics is a free tool from google this is a awsome tool which has a features that i think no other analytic tool has the feature includes:
1.where the people was coming from,
2.A awsome graph of visitors each day
3.browsers they are using,
4.operating system they are using,
5.Source of the traffic,
6.the type of connection the users are using,
7.Conversion Detaisl,
8.Type of display the users using,
oh my god the list goes on, these are some of the powerful features to name a few google are offering and also you have the facility to download the the reports in excel or pdf format i think google analytics is a complete tool for the website analysis
amung.us
Is a not exactly an analytic tool it is more or less like a tracking tool with a little bit of analytics
feature in it it shows where the users are coming from to your site and the Link they have clicked and location in form of a map and a pointer bleeping on it...... it also shows the graphs of visitors maximum and minimum users at any givenn time..... and you can also get graphs of every month and year..... and best part is there is no head ache like registration or anything just copy the code and paste html script in your site and done you will get the statistics online really fresh.....
Awstats from Sourceforge
AWStats is a free powerful and featureful tool that generates advanced web, streaming, ftp or mail server statistics, graphically. This log analyzer works as a CGI or from command line and shows you all possible information your log contains, in few graphical web pages. It uses a partial information file to be able to process large log files, often and quickly. It can analyze log files from all major server tools like Apache log files (NCSA combined/XLF/ELF log format or common/CLF log format), WebStar, IIS (W3C log format) and a lot of other web, proxy, wap, streaming servers, mail servers and some ftp servers.
there are still some analytics tools which or more or less the same as above such as 103Bees,FeedBurner and myBlogLog etc choosing the right one is left to ones requirements and usage...

Hello
You have got a nice blog. There is a problem though. I couldn't find any way to search your archive. It's annoying to manually go through several months. Please add a search box to the layout of your blog. Here is a link to a ordinary search box that you can add to your Blogger layout.
